I was woken up at 5am this morning to let my Aunty into the house, and couldn’t fall back asleep. So I looked for a movie on NetFlix and found this underknown, and under appreciated Meezy Acclaimed Masterpiece. Some day, that’s gonna be a big deal. But in the meantime, check out the trailer that convinced me to give the movie a watch, and consider buying it on Amazon or watching it on NetFlix.

A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints stars Robert Downey Jr., Chazz Palminteri, Dianne Wiest, Rosario Dawson, Shia LaBeouf, and Channing Tatum; and, it’s about its writer and director, Dito Montiel, who was an aspiring somebody who ends up leaving everyone in his life behind, to start a life he really wants.

The movie is based on a book he wrote about the people he left behind, and how much he loved them. I haven’t read the book yet, but I believe the movie is also somewhat of an epilougue to the book, as it’s also about him going back home after the book was released.

I really loved A Guide because I was able to relate to Dito, and understand his conflict of staying with the people he loves, while aspiring to get out of a dull, uninspiring, but dangerous environment. The characters, storytelling and dialog is also done very well. I encourage all dreamers out there to give it a watch.

Have you seen A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints? What did you think about it?
