SongZiGe
SongZiGe (pronounced Song Zuh Guh) is a website started by Jemar “Meezy” Souza to express his writing, his inspirations, and thoughts about the music he listens to and creates.
The name SongZiGe is actually the Chinese name he was given while studying abroad in Hong Kong. Â One of his teachers recognized his love for music, and named him after the Song Dynasty – which was most known for its intellectual and artistic accomplishments.
The Writer
Jemar “Meezy” Souza is an aspiring songwriter with a serious love for music and a big appetite for fashion. His nickname, Meezy, derived from his high school friends calling him Jay-Meezy, ala the sheezy shizzle movement of the early 2000s; but he appreciates people acknowledging him by either name.
Meezy’s love for music became obvious almost as early as his first words, as he would sing a “Bye Bye Love” cover by Trevor Sparks. His writing potential was also evident since grade school, as his parents and teachers recognized that there was something special about the way he wrote poetry. So he never stopped and kept writing away about love, pain, and the journey of a heart that wants to make it.
Jemar was born and mainly raised in the Bronx, New York; but he has also traveled abroad to live and study throughout South East Asia, experiencing the cultures of Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
He recently graduated from Syracuse University with degrees in both Entrepreneurship and Finance. However, although he is more than capable of landing a great 9-5, his passion for music has him striving to be successful without having to wear a suit for the rest of his life.
Meez also sporadically writes for SwaggerDap, a fashion blog with huge ambitions.
