Canadian novelist Howard Engel suffered a stroke, resulting in a loss of the ability to read — more specifically, his brain couldn’t process text as a fixed reference. In this video produced for NPR by animator Levni Yilmaz, Engel shares his story of how he has tricked his brain to read again.
