I read this book for the first time months ago after William Yan shared it on his blog. It’s really short, but very inspirational. Check out the excerpt below and consider buying it on Amazon or B&N.

Paul Arden, Whatever You Think, Think The Opposite.
ASK FOR A SLAP
IN THE FACE.If YOU show somebody a piece of
your work and ask them
‘What do you think?’ they will
probably say it’s okay because
they don’t want to offend you.Next time, instead of asking if it’s
right, ask them what’s wrong. They may not say what you want
to hear, but the chances are they
will give you truthful criticism.Truth hurts, but in the long run
it’s better than a pat on the back.
Whatever You Think… is filled with short eye openers like that above. I actually used that advice for getting criticism for My Decade and started to find the negative feedback rewarding rather than offensive. The book is also very well designed and would look great on your magazine or coffee table. I highly recommend it.
