I must admit that I was on the fence about blogging this project. But after listening to it 3 or 4 times, I figured the fact that I actually listened to it 3 to 4 times, means it’s good enough to share.

House of Balloons isn’t wack, but while a lot of other blogs hail it as one of the most amazing things to happen for R&B in the past (insert whatever time period you want), I think it’s just a taste of what The Weeknd could potentially be.

I enjoy the production and overall vibe, ALOT; and I think they’re on to something. I mean, if I was going to be a SINGER/songwriter, House of Balloons is a project I would go in the direction of. But I find myself disappointed by the songwriting and lyrics. To me “Wicked Games” is the highlight, because it’s musically and lyrically amazing, while everything else just falls short on the words.

But alas, I keep finding myself eager to listen the whole album again and again. And it’s going to be my go to album for my lonely commutes home after a night of drinking, or, for swindling myself into the panties of whoever I’m ending the night with. Swag.

So take a listen to the tough tracks below, download the album if you wanna, and then let me know what you think.
