What do you have to hide?

“The honesty of my music has left me too exposed.”

Are you ashamed, insecure?
Are you lying to yourself or others?

“I’m a keep it honest. I’m so tired of being subtle.”

See, I heard,
That the truth shall set us free.

But to me,
It seems like we are scared of it.

“At least I put it all in the open.”

Tell me, what is the purpose of privacy?

“Please don’t be scared of me…”

Help me understand it.

Because we should no longer drown in our fears, our lies, or our insecurities…

We should no longer drown in an unnecessary and false sense of privacy.

there is definitely a way to be public about your life while being mindful of the privacy of others. it’s not always about fear or hiding. some things are just not everybody/anybodys business.

Oh yeah, you’re absolutely right – I completely recognize and respect that thought.

But my inquiry explores beyond that. I want to know why you, other people, and even myself for that matter, should ever be worried about our privacy.

I believe a want or “need” for privacy usually exists only because the individual is afraid, insecure, or ashamed of something.

And I believe that in order to live life to the fullest, in order to express our lives to the fullest, and in order to have the best chances at “living forever”, we have to let go of those fears, those insecurities, and those shames; we have to tell our stories with as much as honesty and detail as we can – we have to let go of our “privacy” and let as much our history live on for the ones that will come after us.

Another thing that I recognize as a reason that gets in the way of people telling their honest stories and instead demanding their “privacy”, is the need to be dishonest – a need to lie because they are not only ashamed of what they did, but are too coward to accept the consequences of their actions.

I shake my head at that; and I believe people should start living more “honest” lives. And even if life at times seems to have forced them into doing something “bad” or “dishonest”, they should accept that, express that, and still stand by their actions, no matter what it was.

LOL. Meezy, i LOVE your energy, as always, and i DO agree that people should live more honest lives, but i’m going to have to agree to disagree with you on the notion that honest = public.

like i said in my first comment, there are some things that just aren’t everyone’s business. and it should be our personal decision to decide who is privy to intimate details of our life. i personally don’t have a problem making the private public…when it pertains to me. Now if it involves the lives of others, I tend to be more sensitive about details because they have a right to their own discretion. and i dont believe it’s because they are doing something bad or dishonest, it’s just not for me to know/disclose.

…besides things ALWAYS come to light eventually
