I’m Jemar “Meezy” Souza and I love music (Period)
Seriously – I eat sleep, breathe, live, and shit music. Unfortunately, not literally in the sense; but honestly, as I wrote the 1st draft of this post, I was on a toilet and typing away on my blackberry as “Genesis” by Justice played out of my little sister’s wanna-be ihome.
This blog is something that I should have probably started a long time ago. But I never really wanted to start a regular music blog like Nah Right or 2DopeBoyz (No Shots). I wanted to do something that was more personal and reflective, not just a site for people to find new music.
So on December 23rd, 2009, as I casually sat on an F train, writing a list of songs that make me think of people, I decided it was time for me to start my music blog. A music blog that’s (hopefully) a little different.
I mean, I also make some pretty bold and sometimes controversial statements, such as “Lil’ Wayne and Lupe Fiasco are in the same lane…”; and I think writing in a blog will help me to better flesh out and express those thoughts, so that people can at least see where I’m coming from.
So stay tuned for music associations i.e. Â memories that songs stir up, music “reviews” i.e. just my casual thoughts and opinions on songs, and much more.
I’m also an aspiring songwriter and currently working closely with a few producers, including Ibe, Bee Nasty, and Spit Money, to put out a songwriting demo. So there’ll be content related to that too. And If you’d like to collaborate, hit me up.
