Wise Words are knowledge and tips from people working in the arts and entertainment industry. But they won’t just give me advice, they’ll also provide some to themselves. These words are from Chris Faust. Enjoy and learn something.

Reach into your soul in order to find a color that clearly represents your essence.

I would say life is a blank sheet of paper and we, especially artists, are on this planet to paint our story and the story of others. But the problem is that most people only see the world in black and white, or rather a means to an end. In order to find your colors to paint with, you have to experience life by traveling outside of your 10 block radius, getting out of the country, talking to different people from different places, listening to different music, and opening yourself up to fully indulge in “different.”

I’ve seen people get up, brush their teeth, drink their coffee, put on their clothes, walk out their door, drive to their job, work at their desk, clock out, go home, go to sleep, wake up the next day and do it all over again. They see the world without color; and without a strong palette, without vision, without dreams, you can’t see past the dark abyss of routine. For me, that’s the biggest battle for people today, artists and non artists.

I want to be a true connoisseur of music and be able to debate it from a “know” state of mind, rather than a “I think I know” perspective. I think that in order to do that, I need to become better at everything “music”. So I want to learn to play every instrument; because I feel that by doing that, I would become a much more well rounded musician. My knowledge of music history grows every single day; and I thank my friends for providing such wide range of sound for me. I am already a Master of English Education, therefore, its only right to become a Master of all things Music.
