Be persistent and consistent.
These two words are the keys to my success thus far and can be applied to any situation I’ve come across. This business is not for the faint of heart. You have to have an unrelenting will and drive in order to achieve your goals and that explains the first part of my theory. I’ve heard thousands of “no’s” before I started to hear a “yes” from anyone and you have to understand that persistence is the only thing that will get you through.
The second part of this equation comes into play once you get the ball rolling. Now the people are with you, you have supporters and fans all across the world and your name is starting to buzz. What happens next? Consistency. Now that you have their attention to you, you have to keep it and this is no simple task either. The biggest mistake I see many artist make is the inconsistency in their actions. You HAVE to be consistent. I can’t stress that enough.
I need to be patient. I’ve been pursuing this dream of mine for about 4 years now (give or take a few months) and the one thing that has always been an issue is my lack of patience. What I’m learning now though makes me understand my past errors. Time usually has a way of sorting things out. I am confident that my time will come and when it does, I will be ready for it.
Donny Goines is an emerging Hip Hop artist from NYC. He’s traveled all across the U.S., sharing the stage with some of the best in the game.
