Wise Words are knowledge and tips from people working in the arts and entertainment industry. But they won’t just give me advice, they’ll also provide some to themselves. These words are from my pops – Stephen Souza. Enjoy and learn something.

Image is very important.

Be sure that the music you perform matches the image you portray or you will confuse your audience. For example you can’t be singing soothing love songs like a gentleman and dress like a gangster.

I for one think that I can improve on my stage presence and my vocal delivery, and will be working diligently at this. A lot of us singers think we don’t need voice lessons, but our voice is an instrument; it needs constant practice and to be kept in tune.

Stephen Souza is a singer/songwriter, who was born in England, grew up in Manchester, Jamaica, and since the age of 21, has been living in New York City – mainly the Bronx. He started his music career as the lead singer of his High School Band – Phase II; and ever since, he’s performed along side many of Reggae’s greats, including: Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Mr. Vegas, Beenie Man, and more.

His second album, REVISITED was officially released on January 19, 2010, and is available on Amazon.com, CDBaby.com, and iTunes. But Steve already has a new CD in the works, as well as an international tour. So stay tuned.

My pops is also a Sci-Fi junky, who’s TV is almost always on the Sci-Fi Channel. And when it comes to food, he prefers Pepsi over Coke, and absolutely loves Sushi. Follow him on Twitter, check out his MySpace page, and become a fan on Facebook.
