Be GOOD at what you are doing!
You have to be good or have a good team. So either be overwhelmingly brilliant at your craft, or be extraordinary on the biz end.
Personally, I need to improve the amount of time I spend networking and socializing. I’d much rather stay in the studio creating, but this is a music business and a lot of business opportunities come in social settings.
Teedra Moses is a singer/songwriter from New Orleans, La. Her critically acclaimed debut album, Complex Simplicity was released in 2004; and since then, she’s released a few mixtape projects – including Lionhearted: Young Hustla Vol III, Royal Patience, and two others. She’s also written for many artists such as Nivea, Christina Millian, Macy Gray, Raphael Saadiq, Mary J. Blige, and more.
Currently, Teedra’s part of the Lady Hennessy Tour, with Toccara Jones, Alesha Renee, and Haylie Marie Norman; and her sophomore album, The Young Lioness, is slated to be released early 2011.
When she’s not working in the studio or looking for the next shindig to network at, you’ll probably catch Ms Moses watching LAW & ORDER marathons. She’s addicted to the series, and watches them even if she’s already seen all the episodes – like she doesn’t already know what’s gonna happen. haha.
