Wise Words are knowledge and tips from people working in the arts and entertainment industry. But they won’t just give me advice, they’ll also provide some to themselves. These words are from The Tay. Can you say D-Town? Enjoy and learn something…boi.*

Get a day job.
Be a slave to your craft, and a respected servant to your fans and fellow artists. Everyone doesn’t become “big” in the industry, so you’ll need another stream of income to support your music career. Trust me, I can only give advice that has worked out in a positive way for me.
Personally, I need to stop wasting my time with future-less artists. Unless they pay handsomely. (Handsomely is my nickname). I also need to hook up with artists of different genres because I don’t just make hip-hop. Expanding my range will be useful to me.
The Tay is a music producer and audio engineer from Detroit, Michigan (6 Mile to be exact); and so far he’s released two instrumental albums, and has worked with a few independent artists, including: The Stampede, Pat Piff, Detroit Cydi, and electric violinist Ken Ford. He’s currently working on his third instrumental album, an album with Ken Ford, and more projects that he can’t quite speak on yet, until he gets the word that they’ll come out. (I’m personally hoping this means work with Big Sean.)
As a college student and un-afraid to work a day job, you can find The Tay serving custies as a cashier and tech, at a local pharmacy – while also grinding with Dormtainment.com. He says it’s all a BIG juggling act; and he doesn’t get a lot of sleep – as when he does it’s on the train or during conversations with friends. So he feels like a tall man, trapped inside a taller man’s body, trapped inside a short man’s body; and he describes it as something kind of like Inception – but instead of dreams, there’s pseudo-penises.
Follow the Tay on Twitter, dabble your ears into his BandCamp, and check out Dormtainment.com.
*Did you see what I did all the way up there?
