Wise Words are knowledge and tips from people working in the arts and entertainment industry. But they won’t just give me advice, they’ll also provide some to themselves. These words are from the homie, Yonas. Enjoy and learn something.

Practice makes perfect.

Sure some people are born naturally gifted in certain things, but it’s practice and persistence that makes them great. No one gets to the top and stays there, without putting in an immense amount of work.

I definitely need to become more unafraid when it comes to pushing myself musically. The music world is a lot more accepting it seems, of styles and sounds that are unique and experimental, and it’s an amazing thing. It allows people like me who are more musical, to take Hip-Hop to new frontiers. I just have to continue to allow myself to do that and I think I’ll be surprised at the response.

Yonas is the Bronx, NY bred emcee and songwriter formerly known as CAUSE. He’s won a Billboard Songwriting Award, been nominated for an Independent Music Award, shared the stage with hip-hop greats – such as Pharoahe Monch, Wyclef, Sean Price, and DJ Stretch Armstrong – and been featured on Mixtapes hosted by DJ Whoo Kid. He’s currently working with his producer Sean Divine on is new album – dropping this Spring/Summer – that he feels is going to take his career to the next level.

Yonas is a certified TV junkie; so when he’s not working on music you might find him watching 24, Dexter, Friends, Kings of New York, Seinfeld, Fresh Prince, Martin, several reality TV shows, and much much more.

Follow Yonas on Twitter, check out his MySpace, and peep his website.
